Michael Phelps wasn’t the only one bringing home medal after medal this summer. While the Summer Olympics were happening in Rio, we were having some fun of our own participating in the 2016 Salt Lake County Corporate Games!
The Salt Lake County Corporate Games bring together companies of all sizes to compete in a variety of events. Among the benefits of participating include the opportunity for employees to work together, interact with other businesses in the community, be healthy and active, and increase workplace wellness and pride. There were more than 30 different events to choose from, held at different locations and venues through Salt Lake County.
We are proud to say we ended up winning multiple medals!
Kudos to Talip and Bobby for showing everyone how it’s done and bringing home the GOLD in Billiards!
We ended up with two silver medals. Talip, Bobby, Dustin and Derrick were truly kingpins and won silver in the Men’s Bowling competition.
Gregg and Jason finished second in the Fishing competition despite having the smallest team there.
“We were a little discouraged at first because our team was only two of us, and everyone else had four members,” Jason said. “At the end of the day we had an hour left for weigh-in and had to stop fishing because we knew it would take us an hour to get to the dock…we made weigh barely with our five fish and thought for sure we lost, but turned out that we won 2nd place [even] with losing an hour of fish[ing] time and two less people!”
Bobby, Dustin and Jessica brought home the bronze medal in Darts.
Sheldon, Talip, Dustin, Charlie, Derrick and Kaleb represented us in the Men’s Volleyball event and had it easy the first night, as the other teams were no-shows. They ended up with the bronze medal after the second night of competition.
Our brainiacs Shea, Trent and Ryan rocked Trivia Mania and won the bronze!
A big shout out to our employees who also competed in Texas Hold ‘Em, 3-on-3 Basketball, Co-Ed Volleyball, Horseshoes, the Mystery Event (a physical game of Tic-Tac-Toe!) and Go-Kart Racing. The Games also included a blood drive and a food drive—thanks to our staff’s generous donations, we ended up with 138 lbs. of food!
Thanks to our medal count and the extra points we earned by volunteering at the Wellness Walk, Finish Line Festival and on the Mountain Biking course, Jorgenson Companies ended up winning the bronze medal overall for Division D! A big thank you to our fabulous employees for being good sports (literally!) by participating and showing your Jorgenson pride.
“Way to go Team Jorgenson!” our CEO Dustin Jorgenson said. “Thanks to all who volunteered their time and to all those that participated. Hope those of you that did had a good time.”
